How can we best describe 2021? It’s fair to say it’s been no 2020 (make of that what you will), but it’s been challenging and – hopefully for many entrepreneurs – rewarding.
As we head toward one of the year’s busiest periods, with the triple-whammy of Halloween, Black Friday and Christmas looming, now’s the perfect time to look at your Q4 planning, and find out whether you’re going to need a helping hand.
Clear a little space on your desk and in your head, put your feet up and let’s take a look at how you can smash those Q4 goals and end the year on a high.
Turn back the clock

If you’re among the business owners who have felt as if the goalposts shifted on a weekly basis, you’re not alone! So many of our clients have ripped up their quarterly and annual plans this year, but it’s still worth taking a fresh look at what you originally wanted to do back in January 2021.
It’s a chance to see how far you’ve deviated and whether you want to stick to the path you’re on or try to steer the ship back to its original course. Revisiting your Q1 plan could open up new avenues for the end of the year.
Don’t get carried away

We’ve already mentioned the holy trinity of events taking place between now and next January, so it’s important to maintain a realistic view when it comes to achieving additional targets, and ask yourself whether they are vital to your business.
Obviously, you can call on us to ease the day-to-day pressure if you decide to target a particular Q4 goal and give yourself the ultimate Christmas present.
Chalk up the year’s successes

Every business owner always has one eye on the future, looking to spot the latest trends, but don’t forget to give yourself and your teams a well-deserved pat on the back for what you’ve achieved in 2021 to date.
That acknowledgment could even spur your staff (and you) on to beating Q4 targets or nailing that end-of-year contract. If nothing else, it will give everyone a sense of accomplishment that money simply can’t buy.
Find a friend

So much of business is about competition and offering something that’s better than another company. So it’s a refreshing change to be able to encourage collaboration to help you smash those Q4 goals.
Teaming up with either a friend outside your business or someone running a company in an unrelated field could be just the motivational spark you need to make it to December 31st, and you’ll have someone to clink glasses with too.
Look ahead to 2022

Business owners up and down the country would love one thing for Christmas: the ability to predict the future. Sadly not even we can do that, but it is a valuable exercise to consolidate everything you’ve learned and achieved in 2021 and find ways to apply it to the new year.
Planning now, even the broadest strokes, could put you on the front foot for 2022, ready to grab every opportunity as they come your way.
