Remember how exciting it felt to start your business? Full of energy and ambition, you set out into the unknown, bright-eyed and determined to succeed (or at least get the bills paid every month!) Fast-forward a few years, and things are going great. There’s just a niggling feeling in the back of your mind sometimes.

One that says you can do better.

You know that old saying: “if you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always got?” Well, it’s true. If you want to take your business from six to seven figures, some things have got to change. Here are a few steps to help you on your way to business transformation.

  1. Be crystal-clear on what you want

Making money is important, but so is your behind-the-scenes strategy. What’s going to drive all that business growth?

Your mission statement and company values should give you a clue (if you haven’t got any, it’s time to get writing).

  1. Take educated risks

If you know what you want, you’ll understand where you can take a few business risks. Successful people know that nothing’s ever 100% certain, but if an opportunity looks too good to miss, they’ll go for it anyway.

So be decisive, and don’t dither!

  1. Treasure your time

We’ve all got 24 hours in every day. Treat yours with respect, by cutting out ‘dead’ commitments and obligations.

Make sure your business activities are properly aligned with your goals, and review your progress regularly.

  1. Invest in the right people

This doesn’t always mean money. Choosing the right people to spend time with can work wonders. Try to surround yourself with ambitious people who will challenge you to be better.

If you decide to invest in recruiting staff, don’t do it half-heartedly. Take time to find the best.

  1. Adjust your mindset

You’re not a struggling solo entrepreneur any more. You’re in charge of a successful business that’s headed for exponential growth.

So it’s time for you to anticipate your success, then plan towards it like the sophisticated founder you are.

  1. Do more of what works

Check in with what’s working really well in your business. Scale it up and see how you can make it even better.

If you’ve tried something new and it failed, analyse why, then quickly decide whether to improve it or ditch it.

  1. Be open to potential

Create a culture of curiosity and openness in your business – it’s how you turn possibility into profit.

Ask the right questions, and always be ready to take advantage of new opportunities whenever they come up.

Finally…don’t forget to add a healthy amount of self-care, too. Business growth is messy and time-consuming, so nurture your relationships and cultivate your interests. After all, there is life outside of business – even a seven-figure one!
